Join Nowhere Cinema for a screening of Pom Poko to help raise money for USSA's spring field trip!
From writer and director Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies), Pom Poko is a Studio Ghibli film about tanuki taking on suburban development. As Tokyo pushes west, the animals of the Tama Hills lose more and more of their forest home. Banding together, they relearn the shapeshifting skills their elders nearly forgot.
VCU's Urban Studies Student Association is raising funds for their spring field trip to Washington, D.C. which will give students the opportunity to meet professionals in the field and learn about different career pathways. The trip will also include a visit to the National Building Museum and a neighborhood walk. Through this, USSA students will learn about D.C history and culture, adding to the broader discussion of how the built environment impacts our everyday lives and opportunities.
100% of ticket proceeds for this event will be donated to USSA. Funds raised will help cover transportation, museum admission, and other trip expenses so that as many students can attend as possible.
This screening will be subtitled.
