Join Nowhere Cinema in taking a look at the perils of the U.S. fascist state with a screening of Punishment Park.
One of the most controversial films ever made, Peter Watkins' brilliant film took a painfully honest look at Nixon war politics and painted a bleak image of a United States with civil liberties revoked and political dissidents rounded up and hunted for sport. It's The Hunger Games if it removed all science fiction themes and served instead as a pseudo-documentary for fascism in the U.S. It is something to view Watkins' vision and interpretation of our fascist policies and shaky stance on human rights over 50 years ago with the knowledge of how we've progressed in the decades since (and how it's accelerated in the last 10 years).
This screening will be subtitled.
