Join Nowhere Cinema for a screening of 20th anniversary screening of Tekkonkinkreet to help raise money for USSA's spring field trip!

In 2006, Michael Arias became the first non-Japanese director of a major anime film with Tekkonkinkreet. Based on the manga by Taiyō Matsumoto (Ping Pong), Tekkonkinkreet follows two street kids as they take on the Yakuza to protect Treasure Town from being demolished for a megacorporation's theme park. The animation here is startlingly good... beautiful visuals, frenetic movement... and the story is one that is a lovely reminder of the power of friendship.

VCU's Urban Studies Student Association is raising funds for their spring field trip to Washington, D.C. which will give students the opportunity to meet professionals in the field and learn about different career pathways. The trip will also include a visit to the National Building Museum and a neighborhood walk. Through this, USSA students will learn about D.C history and culture, adding to the broader discussion of how the built environment impacts our everyday lives and opportunities.

100% of ticket proceeds for this event will be donated to USSA. Funds raised will help cover transportation, museum admission, and other trip expenses so that as many students can attend as possible.

This screening will be subtitled.
